Cacao is full of vitamins and minerals. It does have some stimulating properties and can raise the heart rate but it is generally regarded as very safe, even in the higher doses that you might drink in a ceremony. Its primary stimulant is theobromine. Those who should however be cautious: if you are pregnant, have heart problems or if you have sensitivity to caffeine or chocolate.
